This past weekend, the DEVO team came out in force for one of our favorite courses on the calendar: the infamous, love-it-or-hate-it Barton Park. With several long run-ups, including the penultimate one before the finish, and a common theme of epic weather forecasted (MUD!!!), Barton Park is a place for epic and gutsy rides. This weekend was no exception. In the Junior 10-12 race, Jacob Smith continued his dominance with yet another win in this hotly-contested category. Carter Hagedorn finished in an impressive 3rd place, while Collin Turner, Ben Wicker, and Michael Zoormajian did a fantastic job battling each other and the race course for 11, 13, and 14th places. Sage Doggett (21st) and Halen Harrison (23rd) did a great job of moving up through the field and improving their confidence and speed with each lap. In the 15-16 field, Joe Lukens won his field, but even more impressively, was second on the day in the combined/Open Junior Men field, and had one of his gutsiest rides of the year. Way to go Joe! Those interval sessions are paying off! In the Junior Women 10-12 field, Madeline Stover had an outstanding day, and put some huge time into her nearest competitor, coming home to a well-earned 4th place. There is only one weekend left in the 2016 edition of the Cross Crusade series, and it is a double weekend at PIR. Some of the DEVO will be racing in Seattle at the Subaru Cup, tuning up for Nationals, so we will have representation at both races. It should be an exciting weekend!
